Robert V. Bartlett

Robert V. Bartlett is the Gund Professor of the Liberal Arts at the University of Vermont. His research and writing focuses on environmental democracy, in particular the applicability of theories of deliberative democracy to environmental policy and politics and, in turn, the implications of practical policy considerations for theorizing about democracy and human rights. His main current project is on democracy and environmental constitutionalism. Prior to coming to the University of Vermont, he taught at Indiana University, Texas Tech University, and Purdue University. He has twice been a Senior Fulbright Scholar (New Zealand and Ireland). In 2003-04 he was the Frank Church Distinguished Professor of Public Policy at Boise State University and in spring 2007 he was the Distinguished Fulbright Chair of Environmental Policies at the Turin Polytechnic Institute and University in Italy. In 2019 he was the Fulbright-Diplomatic Academy Professor of International Studies at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. He has published many articles and twelve books.
