Thomas D. Beamish

I am a Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Davis. I have studied social and organizational response to environmental change and disaster; how and why community movements mobilize and respond as they do to “risky” developments; and economic, organizational, and innovation processes in the commercial construction and petroleum industries. My most recent research investigates the role that public tragedies play in contemporary political polarization and conflict.
