Alan Storkey has studied Economics at Cambridge, a Sociology Masters at the LSE and a PhD at the Free University, Amsterdam, on Foundational Epistemologies in Consumption Theory and has learned and taught in economics, sociology, philosophy, politics and biblical studies in several universities. He has written key texts in Christian social, economic and political thought and engaged directly in politics through the Movement for Christian Democracy, of which he was Chair, and through standing as a Christian candidate in UK General Elections.
About 30 years ago he became aware that the dominant narrative of western military propaganda - that we were defending against bad guys - was hopelessly flawed and he slowly uncovered the fuller picture of the western arms manufacturers and their shaping of western military history. This is partly set out in War or Peace - the long failure of Western arms. Then he focussed on world-wide war and militarism as a solvable problem through disarmament, and the way this solution has been suppressed since 1945. Alan Storkey lives near Cambridge and is married to Elaine..
