John Oliphant

I gained my PhD from Queen Mary, then a College of the federal University of London, and in 2023 was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. An independent historian with a penchant for the eighteenth century, I've given talks and lectures in London, Scotland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia and at the University of Memphis and built a particular expertise in Anglo-Native American relations and I'm now working on a survey of British attempts to manage the frontier between 1748 and 1775. For a decade I taught for the Open University and I've also many joyful memories of teaching bright, enthusiastic sixth formers..
