Deborah Rau writes inspirational historical fiction as well as magazine articles and devotional materials. Her books explore themes of friendship, family, and faith. Her articles cover topics from parenting to literature.
Deborah’s fiction shines with a historical authenticity that sets it apart. Not content to do her research only in libraries, she spends time in the places where her books are set. This firsthand knowledge makes her settings as real as her characters.
As a child, Deborah could usually be found in her reading tree, where she read until it was too dark to see. Her love for storytelling began in grade school, when she adapted her favorite Nancy Drew book for a class play. She and her husband share an interest in reading, travel, and history. A native of Ohio and a longtime resident of California, she currently lives in Michigan.
