Susan Ramsay Hoguet was born in New York City in 1945. She grew up in Forest Hills, Queens, and Darien, Connecticut. She currently lives in Camden, Maine. She is a children's book illustrator/author of 5 children's book. Her first book was published by Dutton in 1983. From 1994- 2014, she designed and owned Animal Tile Works, a wholesale children's tile company whose tiles were featured in "This Old House" among other publications. In 2013, she returned to writing/illustrating with Maine's ABC and is currently working on a young adult novel. Recognition for her work includes AIGA award 1983, Best of the Year in the following -Publisher's Weekly, Horn Book, Kirkus, National Teacher's Association, Library of Congress and the School Library Journal and, in collaboration with children’s writer Anne Spencer Lindbergh, she was a recipient for the International Children's Choice Award.
