Paul E. Corcoran

Paul Corcoran writes stories for the sheer delight of creating characters who are, in their daily lives, experiencing who they are in the eyes of other people – people telling their own stories to each other. Read Bus Stop Story to see what I mean!

In my previous life, after degrees from Princeton and Duke University, I lectured in the history of political thought and contemporary political theory at the University of Adelaide. My interests included political language and rhetoric, Australian political iconography, democratic theory, symbolic representation, French political thought and the role of emotions in political behaviour and social identity. I authored numerous articles and several books in these fields, including Political Language and Rhetoric (1979), Before Marx: Socialism and Communism in France 1830-1848 (1983), Awaiting Apocalypse (2000) and Disclosures (2000). My family and I reside in Adelaide, Australia, not far from bus stop 9.
