Gerald K. LeTendre

Dr. Gerald K. LeTendre is Professor of Education and the Harry Lawrence Batschelet II Chair of Educational Administration at the Pennsylvania State University. At Penn State he also served as Head of the Education Policy Studies Department and was editor of The American Journal of Education. He received his B.A. (magna cum laude) in sociology from Harvard University and his M.S. and Ph.D. (Sociology and Education) from Stanford University.

After receiving his B.A. from Harvard, he was awarded a Rockefeller Fellowship to do fieldwork among Tibetan refugees in 1983-84. He has been the recipient of a Japan Foundation Fellowship, a Johann Jacobs Young Scholar Award, a Spencer Post-doctoral Fellowship and was a Fulbright Senior Scholar at the University of Bremen in Germany (2003-2004) and Sophia University (2016) in Tokyo. He currently serves as a juror for the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Professional Development.

Dr. LeTendre's current research focuses on educational policy around AI, and how AI is impacting teacher-student relationships around the globe.
