David Kalas

David Kalas is an ordained elder of the United Methodist Church, having served churches in Virginia and Wisconsin. He is also the creator of The 3x5 Club, an online resource to help folks read and learn the Bible. And he has recently launched a preaching podcast, "The Best Thing Forever."

David did his undergraduate work at the University of Virginia and earned his M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia.

In 2021, he wrote two books sharing his philosophy and methods for youth ministry in general ("Cornering the Market with Youth") and teaching the Bible to youth in particular ("If You Teach a Youth to Fish").

More recently, CSS Publishing has released a book of sermons on the Gospel readings, titled, "For Those Who Have Run Dry."

He is also the author of three books designed to help Christians get the most out of their reading of the Old Testament: "The Gospel According to Leviticus," "Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Eden," and "When Did God Become a Christian?"

Most recently, David and one of his adult daughters collaborated on two resources to assist people in their Bible reading. "The 3x5 Club Complete Book of Bible Activities for Kids" features Bible puzzles and coloring pages for children. "The 3x5 Club Daily Journal," meanwhile, provides both weekly and daily guidance to assist individuals in their reading of Scripture.

David and his wife, Karen, have five children and seven grandchildren.
