Paul A. Rees

After graduating from the University of Liverpool in 1977 I conducted research on feral cat ecology and behaviour for my doctorate at the University of Bradford, funded by the RSPCA. My first full-time teaching post was at the Sokoto College of Education in Nigeria where I taught student teachers. I subsequently taught biology and environmental science at a number of FE colleges in England and studied for a masters degree in environmental law at the Lancashire Law School. I am currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Science, Engineering and Environment at the University of Salford where I teach, and conduct research in, the ecology of large mammals, the behaviour and welfare of elephants living in zoos and wildlife law. I once worked as an elephant keeper.
