Dana Simson

I am a life-long story teller and illustrator, from making up long songs in the far back of our family's stationwagon to writing comic strips for the Baltimore Sun, my years as a touring singer songwriter for the band Tolen protien, writing & illustrating 14 plus picturebooks, giftbooks and a neat pop-up book to my lastest books offering ways to lighten your environmental footprint or help a species such as the Monarch butterfly to retain habitat. Words and pictures are the gas I run on- with a little solar-power thrown in. I live with my family, 12 goats, 3 cats and Ozzydog on an island in the Chesapeake Bay, so nature inspires me daily and sometimes provides more adventure then we need. The tides now determine passage up our road and I have had to invent new ways to garden in this time of salt encroachment, extreme storms and climate change.
