Over the years, Gerald has published a number of philosophical texts on time, general philosophy, ethics, grief, the nature of self and philosophical biography. He has written forewords and introductions to important reprints, philosophical essays and articles, book reviews and bibliographies, edited a well-known philosophical journal and published fifteen fictional novels. He has taught aspects of practical philosophy in a variety of environments, conducting sessions and workshops in Europe and the US, and is responsible for the development of the idea of “Philosophy with Strangers”. He is past editor of the journal Practical Philosophy and previous chair of the Society for Philosophy in Practice. He is a trained and registered philosophical counsellor.
