C. Warren Axelrod

C. Warren Axelrod is a senior consultant with Delta Risk, a consultancy specializing in cyber security, risk management and business resiliency, and the Research Director for Financial Services for the U.S. Cyber Consequences Unit. Previously, he was the Business Information Security Officer and Chief Privacy Officer for US Trust, the Private Wealth Management division of Bank of America.

He led the Software Assurance Initiative for the Financial Services Technology Consortium and has participated in many national and industry activities under the auspices of such organizations as FSSCC, BITS and SIFMA. He was a founder of the FS/ISAC (Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center) and represented financial services cyber security interests in the National Information Center in Washington, DC during the Y2K date rollover. He testified before Congress in 2001 on the subject of cyber security.

Dr. Axelrod won the 2009 Michael P. Cangemi Best Book/Best Article Award presented by ISACA for his article “Accounting for Value and Uncertainty in Security Metrics,” published in the Information Systems Control Journal. He was honored with the prestigious Information Security Executive (ISE) Luminary Leadership Award in 2007, and received a Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leaders Award and Best in Class Award in 2003.

He holds a Ph.D. in managerial economics from Cornell University, and a B.Sc. in electrical engineering and an M.A. in economics and statistics from Glasgow University. He is certified as a CISSP and CISM and is a member of IEEE, ACM, ISACA, (ISC)2 and ISSA.
