Kevin Wheldall

Emeritus Professor Kevin Wheldall AM is Chairman of MultiLit Pty Ltd, a research-based, educational publishing and training company (www.multilit.com), and is the Director of the MultiLit Research Unit (https://multilit.com/multilit-research-unit-mru/).

He has researched and written extensively in the area of children’s learning and behaviour difficulties with particular emphasis on managing classroom behaviour (‘Positive Teaching’) and helping low-progress readers to learn to read (‘MultiLit’). He is the author of over 400 academic books, chapters, and journal articles in the fields of educational psychology and Special Education.

Professor Wheldall also writes for teachers and parents and is joint founding editor of Nomanis, a free, twice yearly, popular, online magazine about reading and related skills (www.nomanis.com.au). His opinion on educational matters is often sought by the media and he has acted as an adviser to both state and federal government education bodies and ministers.

Among other distinctions, he is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, has been inducted into the Macquarie University Innovators Hall of Fame, and in 2011 he was appointed a Member (AM) in the Order of Australia ‘for service to education as an academic and researcher, particularly in the areas of learning and behavioural difficulties, and through the design and implementation of innovative literacy programs’.
