Julia Segal

I’ve been a counsellor since 1981 and a Fellow of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy since 2008. I discovered the ideas of Melanie Klein early in my career, and found them very helpful in illuminating everyday experience and understanding the ways people react to ordinary difficulties in their lives.

Since 1985 I have specialised in counselling people affected by multiple sclerosis or other physical illnesses or disabilities. I am also interested in the effects on healthcare professionals of working with people who have neurological conditions. I have written extensively on the effects of illness on relationships in journals as well as books. I have a blog: https://thetroublewithillness.wordpress.com
