Jennie Melville

Jennie Melville, a pseudonym for Gwendoline Butler, was a British author known primarily for her crime fiction and mystery novels. She was born in London in 1922 and studied at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. In 1962, she began writing her Charmian Daniels novels under her grandmother’s name, Jennie Melville. In 1973, she was awarded a Silver Dagger by the Crime Writers’ Association. She was listed in the top 200 crime writers in the world by The Times.
