Harvey O'Brien

Harvey O'Brien teaches Film Studies at University College Dublin. He is the author of Action Movies: The Cinema of Striking Back (2012) and The Real Ireland (2004), and co-editor of Keeping it Real (2004). He is co-editor of Film and Film Culture and a member of the Board of directors of the Irish Film Institute as well as a former Associate Director of the Boston Irish Film Festival. He is also a writer of fiction and drama, and has written scripts for radio and television. Other publications include contributions to Cineaste, Eire-Ireland, Historical Journal of Film, Radio, Television, Film Ireland, and Irish Theatre Magazine. He is a frequent contributor to popular media in Ireland, particularly RTE Radio One's popular 'Classic Movie' slot. His latest project is the companion volume to Action Movies: The Cinema of Striking Back, on the subject of Adventure Films.
