John L. Hiigel

John L. Hiigel, author of Partnering with the King, is Professor of Biblical Studies at the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota and a leader in cultivating the school's Christian identity and mission. His teaching work is an extension of his twenty-three years of pastoral ministry in the Los Angeles area that featured church planting with Korean immigrants, service partnerships with churches in Mexico and inner-city LA, and an enduring congregational commitment to an "unreached people" in Central Asia. On the side, he worked as a professional trombonist and singer. His Ph.D. studies at Fuller under Judith Gundry, Ralph Martin, Robert Banks, and Donald Hagner led to his earlier book Leadership in 1 Corinthians. He and Cindi have been married for nearly four decades, and they delight in their college-student daughter, Rebecca, who is a talented musician.
