I'm currently writing a higher education novel set in Maine, with a writing portfolio that ranges from academic books/articles to fundraising advice for deans, a civility/democracy blog, and a humorous cat memoir.
My book, The Transformation of the Christian Right, won the Gustavus Myers Award for the Study of Human Rights in the United States. I granted dozens of interviews over the years to national media outlets including ABC World News, the New York Times, Washington Post, and Associated Press; appeared on syndicated radio shows; and, provided expert commentary to media in Japan, France, and Canada.
Dumb Bunnies & Expecting Cats was chosen for the Reader's Book Club of SD Public Radio and incorporated into the Festival of Books, with signings at bookstores around the state.
Recently retired, I served as president/CEO of the Gettysburg Foundation, Dean of Arts & Sciences/Lohre Distinguished Professor at the University of South Dakota, and professor/chair/Trustee Professor at the University of Maine. Other roles included chair of the SD Humanities Council, appointed by the governor.
