My name is Stacy B. (Gordon) Fisher. I was an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Reno for 18 years until I retired in 2015. While at UNR, I served in many administrative roles including department chair, Director of Undergraduate Advising, and Director of the International Relations program. I currently work for the Foundation for California Community Colleges as the Director of Policy Development.
I received my B.A. in political science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1990 and my Ph.D. in the same from the University of California, Davis in 1997. My academic areas of specialization are U.S. political institutions (particularly legislatures and interest groups), comparative politics, and research methods. I've published multiple articles and two books on legislative lobbying as well as articles on comparative political behavior and a policy report on student financial aid in California.
I've enjoyed working with undergraduate and graduate students both in my capacity as a teacher and a researcher and I was proud to win the UNR College of Liberal Arts Alan Bible Teaching Award in 2012.
What do I do for fun? I still love teaching online classes for UNR. In addition, I'm a voracious reader and a world (okay, European and North/Central American) traveler. I take any opportunity to eat good food and spend time with good friends.
