Moshe HaLevi Spero

Moshe Halevi Spero, Ph.D. (licensed clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst) is Full Professor in the Louis & Gabi Weisfeld School of Social Work, Bar-Ilan University, Ramat Gan Israel where he is also the Director of the Postgraduate Program of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. He is a Scientific Associate of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry and a member of the International Council of Editors of Psychoanalytic Journals. in 2010, he was co-founder and has been the Chief Editor of Ma'arag: The Israel Annual of Psychoanalysis, from Volumes I - VIII and continues as the English Language Editor.

He has published widely in psychoanalytic journals, edited several special issues of journals, and contributed numerous chapters to psychoanalytic texts. He is currently completing a book to be published by Routledge Publishing Co., entitled Repentance, Repetition and Remembrance: Psychoanalysis, Symbolization and the Judaic Concept of Teshuvah, an outgrowth of his Well-House Project on the Psychoanalysis of Religious Experience ("well-house" is a reference to the moment of Helen Keller's discovery of the meaning of the sign 'word' w-a-t-e-r at the well-house of her home, from which sprung forth her re-entry into communication and mentalization).
