Ali Mirsepassi

Ali Mirsepassi is Professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic studies at Gallatin and in the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science at NYU. He is the co-author, with Tadd Fernee, of Islam, Democracy, and Cosmopolitanism: At Home and in the World (Cambridge University Press, 2014); and is the author of Transnationalism in Iranian Political Thought: The Life and Times of Ahmad Fardid (Cambridge University Press, 2017), Political Islam, Iran and Enlightenment: Philosophies of Hope and Despair (Cambridge University Press, 2011), Democracy in Modern Iran: Islam, Culture, and Political Change (New York University Press, 2010), and Intellectual Discourses and Politics of Modernization: Negotiating Modernity in Iran (Cambridge University Press, 2000).
