Bill Buchanan

Bill Buchanan is the author of three technothrillers published by Putnam/Berkley/Jove: Virus, ClearWater, and Pure Fusion.

His next novel, Face The Music And Dance, explores the limitations of emerging military technology, the devastating impact of greed and punitive regulation on America’s defense industry, and its consequences on national security.

An electrical engineer formerly with Bell Laboratories and Raytheon, he developed control systems and communication protocols for computer networks. Early in his career, as a captain in the Air Force Electronics Systems Division, he helped develop and test a side-looking prototype mobile radar designed to penetrate foliage. This work explored airborne electronic alternatives to Agent Orange, using radar to detect slowly moving targets hidden beneath the trees.
