Erdman Ballagh Palmore

Biographical Note for Erdman B. Palmore, PhD

Palmore is Professor Emeritus at the Duke Center for the Study of Aging. He was born in Japan of missionary parents. He received a BA degree from Duke University, a MA from the University of Chicago, and his PhD from Columbia University. His current major research interest is the study of ageism. His recent publications include The Encyclopedia of Ageism; the International Handbook on Aging; and Older Can Be Bolder. He is a Humanist Celebrant, President of the local UN Association, a hiker, bicycle rider, and octogenarian.

He is trying to prove that you can improve with age by riding his age (now 82) in miles on his bicycle; and doing his age in push-ups, sit-ups, and knee-bends.
