Spencer Golub

Spencer Golub is Professor of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies; of Comparative Literature; and of Slavic Studies at Brown University. He is the author of seven books: Heidegger and Future Presencing (The Black Pages) (2019); A Philosophical Autofiction: Dolor's Youth (2019); The Baroque Night (2018); Incapacity: Wittgenstein, Anxiety, and Performance Behavior (2014); Infinity (Stage) (1999); the Callaway award-winning The Recurrence of Fate: Theatre and Memory in Twentieth-Century Russia (1994); and Evreinov: The Theatre of Paradox and Transformation (1984). He is also an essayist and a fiction writer. His research interests include: performance philosophy; creative non-fiction and experimental writing; film, narrative fiction, and mental mise en scène; Russian Theatre; the concept of invention; the surreal and the baroque.
