Los Angeles native and enthusiast, Grace Ellen Partin Moremen grew up in the shadow of UCLA where her mother taught English from 1928 to 1939. To show her appreciation for her hometown, Ms. Moremen, late in life, composed a song "City of the Angels" in 2010 and, with co-autnor Jacqueline Chase, wrote a guide book, "Loving LA the Low Carbon Way", published in 2015.
Her alma maters include Pomona College, BA in International Relations, 1952; University of Chicago, MA in Religion and Art 1956; and UC Berkeley, MA in British History, 1986.
Ms. Moremen's writing career began in 1972 when, at the age of 32, she was led on a merry chase by a white rabbit . The result was the book "No, No Natalie" that has become a children's classic. Other books followed in fits and starts as time and circumstances permitted. She spent 20 years researching and writing the first-ever biography of the Duke of Cambridge, youngest son of King George III (Lewiston ,NY, Mellen 2002). For the last 17 years she has been editing the letters of her mother, Agnes Edwards Partin. The first two volumes appeared in 2006 and 2014. The third volume, titled "Rising to the Challenge in Los Angeles, the Letters of Agnes Edwards Partin 1926-1956" (Dog Ear Publishing, Indianapolis, IN, ) came out in the spring of 2019.
Grace married the Rev. William Moremen in 1953. From 1956 to 1993, they served five churches in the United Church of Christ.Their three children, Margaret ("Margie"), John, and Katherine ("Katie") and their spouses are the joy of their lives. They retired to Claremont, California in 1998 where they enjoy the sport of race-walking.
