Robert Garth Scott

Robert Garth Scott is the author/editor of three books on the American Civil War. INTO THE WILDERNESS WITH THE ARMY OF The Potomac, a history of the Wilderness Campaign, was his first work, published in 1985. That book was followed in 1991 by FALLEN LEAVES: THE CIVIL WAR LETTERS OF MAJOR HENRY LIVERMORE ABBOTT. A NEW YORK TIMES notable book of 1991, FALLEN LEAVES was cited by CIVIL WAR TIMES, ILLUSTRATED as one of the 100 best books ever published on the war. Mr. Scott's most recent work (1999) is FORGOTTEN VALOR: THE MEMOIRS, JOURNALS AND CIVIL WAR LETTERS OF ORLANDO B. WILLCOX. The story of the discovery of Gen. Willcox's papers, the largest such collection discovered in over half a century, is one of the most remarkable tales in Civil War historiography.

Robert is currently writing a novel on the Irish potato famine. He is a native of Michigan, where he lives with his wife, acclaimed doll artist Karen Scott, and their dog, Raven.
