Hemchand Gossai

I have recently published The Hebrew Prophets after the Shoah (Wipf and Stock Publishers, 2014) and Postcolonial Commentary and the Old Testament (Bloomsbury Press, 2018). My wife Viera and I together with our dog Atlas, reside in the Washington DC area.

I engage myself with interdisciplinary and socio-political hermeneutics and the essential relationship between text and local and global communities. I am influenced and guided by the humanistic traditions of the environment in which I live, in addition to the questions and issues we face in the world, particularly in areas of social justice. Scholars and reviewers have been characterized my scholarship as: “bold,” “sharp,” “thoughtful,” “perceptive and eloquent,” and having: “piercing clarity,” “wonderful lucidity,” “rigorous theopolitical discourse,” “Values of radical empathy and grace,” “master of interpretation,” “formula for a journey of goodness and grace, justice and kindness, compassion and care
