Aileen Fyfe

Aileen Fyfe is a social and cultural historian of science and technology, and professor of modern history at the University of St Andrews, UK. She investigates the history of scientific communication, and of academic publishing. Most of her work has been published in academic journals (and there are open access versions of most of it available from the University of St Andrews research repository), but she is also the author of several books (available from Amazon!) and of various forms of journalism. She is currently fascinated by the history of academic publishing from the seventeenth century to the present day; this includes the financial models underpinning scientific journals, as well as their editorial and reviewing processes.

She was born in Glasgow, trained in Cambridge, worked in Galway; and has lived and worked in St Andrews since 2010.
