Dr. Ivan Molloy was born in 1952 in Sandringham, Victoria, Australia. The youngest of four children, he grew up in a politically active family, his father a unionist and war veteran, his mother an engaged left-wing intellectual.
After studying Civil Engineering and Geology, Ivan travelled extensively before returning to complete a BA (Hons), MA, and PhD in Political Science, specialising in Third World politics, revolutionary movements, and U.S. foreign policy.
An academic and author, he lectured at universities across Australia and abroad, conducting field research in conflict zones including Nicaragua, El Salvador, Vietnam, and the Philippines. His acclaimed 2002 book Rolling Back Revolution was based on years of research into global insurgencies.
In 2004, his political career was marred by media controversy during his candidacy for the Australian Labor Party. Now politically independent, Dr. Molloy continues to write and pursue creative projects, including the Rock Mountain Virtual Reality Theme Park.
