David James Randolph

David James Randolph, PhD, is an educator and spiritual leader widely known as a speaker and writer who lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. He is the Host of the New Way Media and Art Festival, one of the first festivals to feature New Media. He is one of the first to observe Patriot Sunday, the Sunday before Patriot Day 9/11, as a time of remembrance and renewal.

His work has been featured on the NBC "Today Show," CBS "In Our Time," the National Radio Pulpit on NBC, The New York Times, and numerous other media. His life and work bridge church and society and the 20th and 21st Centuries.

Dr. Randolph is an scholar who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Homiletics. He was the Pastor of Christ Church Manhattan in New York who aided the cause of the homeless. He was a member of the first interfaith delegation to be officially invited to China after the Cultural Revolution whose optimistic report encouraged unprecedented dialogue and activity.

Author and editor of numerous books and articles, Dr. Randolph's current focus is the "On The Way After 9/11" series, four volumes of creative responses to the issues related to the September 11, 2001 events over the last decade. "On The Way After 9/11: New Worship and Art" (New Way Media) appeared first in 2002 followed by "Candles In The Dark: Preaching and Poetry in Times of Crisis" (New Way Media) in 2003, and "The Renewal of Preaching in the 21st Century" (Cascade, 2009). "More Candles in the Dark" (New Way Media) appeared in the winter of 2011 anticipating the Tenth Anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11/2001.

His current book "Credit Card Christ" relates faith and current issues with thirty other sermons dealing with personal and social crises. It is available in print and as an e-book as will his groundbreaking book "The Renewal of Preaching in the 21st Century." Of the latter, Prof. Dave Bland writes: "This is a most helpful volume that energizes and invigorates the conversation about the future direction of preaching. Randolph continues to lead the way in charting new territory for homiletics."
