Lawrence E. Shapiro

Lawrence E. Shapiro, Ph.D., is a nationally recognized child psychologist who is known for his innovative play-oriented techniques. He has written over 40 books for children, teens, parents and mental health professionals and has created more than 100 therapeutic games used by therapists around the world. His work has been translated into over 27 languages.

Dr. Shapiro is the founder of the Childswork/Childsplay catalog and publishing company, a leading distributor of psychologically oriented toys and games. Besides books, Dr. Shapiro has created a wide variety of mental health apps and websites, ranging from "Operation Outreach" an app designed to prevent suicides in the military, to "Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim," an app that teaches young children about water safety. Dr. Shapiro is also the founder of Between Sessions Resources, a company that provides various services for mental health professionals.
