Timothy R. O'Neill

Tim O'Neill served in the United States Army for twenty-six years, from 1966 through Desert Storm, including two years in Viet Nam and fifteen on the faculty of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is a graduate of The Citadel, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Virginia.

His chief interests are experimental psychology/visual perception and Jungian analytical psychology.

Since retiring from the service he has been a business executive, trained foreign special operations units, and served as a consultant to the Army, Navy, Marines, and Federal Bureau of Investigation on problems of stealth technology; he is a recognized expert in applied camouflage, in which he holds a number of patents. He is the author of The Individuated Hobbit: Jung, Tolkien, and the Archetypes of Middle-earth and the novels Shades of Gray and Mandala.

He lives with his wife in Alexandria, Virginia.
