Dr. H. Lee Cheek, Jr., is Dean Emeritus and Professor of Political Science at the University College of Georgia Southern University. He previously served as Dean of the School of Social Sciences at the University of North Georgia; as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Athens State University in Alabama; and Vice-President for College Advancement and Professor of Political Science at Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia. Pi Gamma Mu, the International Honor Society in the Social Sciences, bestowed upon Dr. Cheek the society's Outstanding Alumni Award in 2017. In 2020, the Georgia Political Science Association conferred the James T. LaPlant Award for excellence in teaching and mentoring in political science upon Dr. Cheek.
