Sam Lightner Jr.

Sam Lightner, Jr. is a life-long writer and climber who lives in Lander, Wyoming. He is the author of multiple works of fiction and non-fiction, including All Elevations Unknown, his widely praised book on climbing and a series of battles fought on the island of Borneo during World War Two. He is also the author of Thailand: A Climbing Guide (the Mountaineers), Rock Climbing: Wyoming (Falcon), and Roadside Histories of Jackson Hole and Moab, Utah. Sam has been published in Outside Magazine and most of the worlds climbing magazines, and was featured in an article in National Geographic in January of 2000. In 2017 he released Heavy Green: The Collision of Two Unlikely Missions in America's Secret War, and in March of 2020 he published Wyoming: A History of the American West.
