Garry Whannel

Garry Whannel is the author of Vladimir and Jerome, a play about Vladimir Lenin and Jerome K. Jerome. They lived a few doors apart in Central London and the play imagines what might have happened had they met.

Garry Whannel is a writer and researcher. He worked for six years as a media technician, mostly in arts colleges, before becoming a student. During the 1980s he was a freelancer on television documentaries, before becoming an academic. He has written extensively on culture, politics, sport, and the media. During the 2010s he turned his attention to writing fiction. He has lived in London for a long time, plays piano, guitar and clarinet, although not with any striking skill, and loves cooking.
