Scott Minick

Scott Minick has enjoyed a distinguished and varied career in the visual arts as an artist, designer, design educator, historian and writer. He has taught at Parsons Paris School of Design and the American University in Paris.

Early in his career Minick interviewed legendary Fluxus artist George Brecht in his reclusive Cologne hideaway, collaborated with Joseph Beuys on an educational initiative "Action for Global Dialogue" from Beuy's Dusseldorf kitchen and introduced groundbreaking courses in Multi-media, Concept and Performance Art at Parsons Paris. He was an instrumental force in the Third Wave of new American writing that swept Paris literary circles in the 1980s serving as Art Director for Time Out’s Paris publication Paris Passion, as well as overseeing the design for three of the city’s new English language literary journals: Frank, Sphinx and Paris Exiles.

Through his multidisciplinary design practice, Mr. Minick designed an anniversary exhibition showcasing UNESCO's global projects at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, curated an exhibition on "The Changing Representation of Women in Chinese Design" at London's Design Museum and has overseen the design and curation of both public and private museums and historical collections in Hong Kong.

Scott Minick is the author of six books including: "Chinese Graphic Design in the Twentieth Century", "The Arts and Crafts of China", "China: The Art of the Middle Kingdom", "Thai Tracks: Contemporary Thai Design", "The Repulse Bay: A Life of Elegance and Charm" and "Bama Traditions: Guangxi China", as well as contributing numerous introductions and essays to art, design and photography books. He currently splits his time between Paris, Hydra and Hong Kong.
