Jan Cleere

Author, historian, and lecturer Jan Cleere writes extensively about the people who first settled in the desert southwest. Always on the lookout for the stories of early pioneering women, her books reflect her love of the west and her knowledge of western history. Her award-winning books include "Military Wives in Arizona Territory: A History of Women Who Shaped the Frontier," "'Never Don't Pay Attention:' The Life of Rodeo Photographer Louise L. Serpa," "Levi's & Lace: Arizona Women Who Made History," "Amazing Girls of Arizona: True Stories of Young Pioneers," "Outlaw Tales of Arizona" (first and second editions), and "More Than Petticoats: Remarkable Nevada Women" (Second edition titled "Nevada's Remarkable Women"). She has work published in several anthologies including "Skirting Traditions: Arizona Women Writers and Journalists 1912-2012," "Wise Women," and "Badasses of the Old West."
