Daniel Pollack

Since 1992, Daniel Pollack, MSW, JD has been a professor at Yeshiva University's School of Social Work in New York City. Concurrently, from 2002-2008 he was Senior Fellow, Office of Foster Care and Adoption, University of Massachusetts Medical School. He was also a Commissioner of Game Over: Commission to Protect Youth Athletes, an independent blue-ribbon commission created to examine the institutional responses to sexual grooming and abuse by former USA Gymnastics physician Larry Nassar.

Serving plaintiffs and defendants, he has been retained as an expert witness for lawyers in more than 30 states. He has also provided litigation support and been a consultant to many attorneys. Case subject matter includes: child protection services, wrongful death of children in foster care, wrongful death of children in residential care; abuse of children in foster care, residential care, and day care; social work ethics violations, and adoption issues.

Professor Pollack has held high-level executive, management, and policy making positions in social welfare agencies in Maryland and Ohio, including Deputy Executive Director for Maryland's Social Services Administration, and principal advisor for health and human services to Ohio's Governor. His experience includes liability of agencies and workers in child welfare, foster care, adoption, child protection services, licensing of public and private facilities, record management, confidentiality and ethics.

Professor Pollack is the co-author of Social Work and the Courts (3rd edition), co-author of Adoption in the United States: A guide for families, professionals and students, co-author of How to screen adoptive and foster parents (NASW Press, 2011), and more than 350 articles on social welfare law and policy.

He has also written approximately 30 law review articles that have appeared in a variety of leading law journals.

Professor Pollack is an Honorary Fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys.
