Sam McGuire

Sam McGuire is on the faculty of the University of Colorado Denver where he enjoys life in the "mile-high" city. Sam is the primary author on two audio technology books and multiple audio software instructional CD-ROMs. Born in the late 70s, Sam is of the first generation that has not lived without the personal computer. This, in combination with training as a classical musician, has given him a special perspective when it comes to using musical technology.

Sam is an active audio engineer and composer. Most recently Sam co-composed the score to an independent film called Woodshop starring former governor Jesse Ventura and also composed music for an award winning documentary called Mortal Lessons by David Liban.

Another area of fascination for Sam is the digital virtualization of musical instruments through a process called sampling. Sam has been invited to partner with the Stearns Collection of Musical Instruments at the University of Michigan to digitally document and virtualize their Javanese Gamelan. This is an exciting project that will be ongoing over the next year.
