Bernard D. Cole

Bernard (Bud) Cole served 30 years in the U.S. Navy, commanding a frigate and a destroyer squadron; he also served with the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam. He earned a Ph.D. in Chinese History from Auburn University and taught for 22 years at the National War College. Cole has made many visits to China, which included frequent interaction with Chinese military officers and visits to more than a dozen Chinese warships and other military installations. He has written eight non-fiction books about Chinese and Asian security issues. He resides in Annapolis, MD.
