Carmia Marshall

Carmia Marshall is a wardrobe stylist, set costumer, personal shopper and co- author of three style books by Sistahs of Harlem: T-Shirt Makeovers: 20 Transformations to Fabulous Fashions (Glitterati, Inc.) Denim Mania: 25 Ways to Transform Your Jeans and Chic Sweats: 20 Ways to Transform Your Sweats (St.Martin's Press). She has worked consistently in several specialized areas of fashion and media. She star dressed Clive Owen in the Duplicity, off camera styled fashion contributors from the makeover television show What Not to Wear and given lectures to inner schools on how to work consistently in the fashion freelance world. She has also made television appearances on VH1's Can't Get A Date, B-Smith Style Show on the Discovery Channel to provide practical fashion tips on how to maximize your wardrobe.

Carmia was also the set costumer for all male leads for the Sex in the City 2. She has worked on some of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters such as Stephen Spielberg's remake of War of he Worlds, star dressing Dakota Fanning to Ridley Scott's American Gangster to Tony Gilroy's Duplicity where she star dressed Clive Owen. Unlike most costumers who work in the world of film, Carmia has experience in styling, personal shopping and fashion design. She was the co-owner of a fashion label called Sistahs of Harlem. Carmia was the Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of the Sistahs of Harlem duo. Carmia was involved in every aspect of Sistahs of Harlem including sales, production, budgeting, client relations, wardrobe styling, marketing and fashion design as well as day-to-day operations of the clothing company. Carmia has even made television appearances on VH1 Can't Get a Date sharing useful fashion tips to singles who need fashion advice. She's given lectures on how to start a business to NFTE students who desire to learn more of entrepreneurial ship.

She labels her niche as Fashion and media. She uses fashion as a platform to inform by using a variety of mediums from clothing to books to television and film. Carmia's dedication to share via fashion has provided her with a well-rounded experience in several facets of the fashion industry.

Some of the other credits include dressing the Fab 5 for "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," "Law & Order: S.V.U" as well as feature films such as "The Interpreter," starring Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn, Steven Spielberg's and "Freedom Land" starring Samuel L. Jackson, "I Think I Love My Wife," starring Chris Rock and Kerry Washington. She is also a personal stylist for Stacey's London's Style For Hire Company.

Graduating cum laude from Howard University with a bachelor of arts in communications. Carmia moved to New York to pursue a filmmaking career. Quickly, she realized film production was not the job of her dreams. As a result, she set new sights on the fabulous world of fashion. It was not long before Carmia begin working on the hottest television and film projects in New York.

Multi-talented and dedicated, Carmia will continue to work in costumes, personal shopping and wardrobe styling in New York City. Her motto: Style is NOT something you do but something you LIVE. It's not a specific destination, but an on-going journey to self-refinement.
