Sharon K. Anderson

Sharon Anderson received her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Denver in 1993. She is currently a professor of counseling and career development program in the School of Education at the Colorado State University.

Sharon is well versed in the areas of psychotherapy and counseling; passionate about ethical and legal issues in psychotherapy. She has professional experience as a licensed psychologist and currently maintains a small practice in life coaching. She has been described by students as being "wickedly enthusiastic" about ethics. For several years, Dr. Anderson has been one of the few professionals recognized by the State of Colorado to provide workshops on mental health law for all mental health professions.

Dr. Anderson's writing and research agenda includes issues such as the professional ethical acculturation, ethics of multiple relationships and the ethical sensitivity and decision-making of psychologists and other professionals. She has traveled to national and international conferences to present her research findings, and she has published numerous articles and book chapters on the theory and practice of professional ethics in psychotherapy and ethical acculturation.

Sharon is a successful writer with five books in print and is most pleased with the recent book co-authored with Dr. Karen Kitchener titled, "Foundations of Ethical Practice, Research, and Teaching in Psychology and Counseling". Other books include, "Ethics for psychotherapists and counselors: A proactive approach" and a 2nd edition co-edited book titled, "Exploration in diversity: Examining privilege and oppression in a multicultural society."
