Denise L. Stringer

Denise L. Stringer is an ordained elder and a member of the Northern New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, having served from 1975 in the former Troy Annual Conference (Vermont and Up-State New York). She earned her doctorate from Drew University in pastoral care and counseling, with a dissertation on adult spiritual formation through the local church. She earned her master's degree from Boston University in pastoral care and counseling, after having completed two concentrations at Princeton Theological Seminary: Christian Education and New Testament Studies.

Denise's parish ministry began with new congregational development. She found herself called to serve in rural, urban, small town, and rural settings, most of which required her skills in development or redevelopment. She served the annual conference as Coordinator of Local Church Development and Redevelopment for eight years. A highlight of her work is RISSE (Refugee and Immigrant Support Services of Emmaus) at Emmaus United Methodist Church in Albany, NY. Throughout her career, however, Denise continued to focus on making disciples of Jesus Christ. Wherever she serves, she teaches Bible Studies for adults, frequently published by Abingdon Press and available through Amazon.
