Isa Herrera, MSPT, CSCS is the founder of http://www.PelvicPainRelief.com , a unique online portal dedicated to providing the latest evidence-based information combined with integrative modalities. She has dedicated her career to helping women and men find relief from conditions such as dyspareunia, incontinence, pelvic pain, prostatitis, prostatectomy, penile pain, sexual pain, interstitial cystitis, pudendal neuralgia, pudendal nerve entrapement, prolapse and pre and post-natal complications. Ms Herrera's approach to healing is holistic, utilizing techniques that tie together mindful-painful body components.
At her healing center, Isa pioneered the use of integrative modalities like Maya Abdominal Massage, Low Level Laser Therapy, Reiki, Sound Healing, and Andean Energy Techniques with traditional evidence-based physical therapy in ways that had never been done. It has since become very mainstream to talk about integrative approaches, and Isa is proud to say she has been there in those trenches long before it was a hot topic.
Isa has also spent years traveling to Central and South America learning integrative healing techniques, and spent years as an adjunct professor at Hunter College in New York teaching pelvic floor techniques to 3rd year Doctoral level physical therapy students. She was always frustrated that there was not a broad level of teaching about pelvic floor issues in schools. To that end, Isa has just launched her new online school www.PelvicPainRelief.com
She believes that everyone holds the key to their pain relief, all they need is to be shown the way. Her goal is to always empower her patients with the tools they need to succeed on their own. Ms. Herrera's passion for women's health and pelvic rehab began after working for many years with pregnant women, who many times suffered from sexual pain and other problems after the birth of their children. Soon after opening her healing center, she saw that men also suffered from the same pelvic pain issues, and she has worked since that time to help all pelvic pain sufferers find the key to their own healing.
Herrera's experience with her patients lead to the development of her online treatment protocols and therapeutic methods, which fuse together many types of exercises, self-care practice and relaxation techniques. Her women's health program is called "The Female Pelvic Alchemy Program", and her men's in person pelvic program is called "The XY Health Program For MenTM" (soon to be online too.) Ms. Herrera's philosophy is, "With the proper amount of training and encouragement, women can be helped to control their pain or condition, get their bodies back and return to the lifestyles they desire."
She has appeared on national television on both The Regis and Kelly Show and NBC's Today Show, where she promoted her work and her first book, "The Pregnant Couples Guide to Working Together." She has also been featured on PBS Biography Series, and conducts free community workshops throughout the year to help build awareness about pelvic health. Her second and third books, "Ending Female Pain, a Woman's Manual" and "Ending Male Pelvic Pain, a Man's Manual" are hands down the most comprehensive resources on this topic available on the market today, filled with advanced techniques to relieve pain presented in a way that people can understand and use to conquer their pain.
Ms. Herrera holds a Masters in Physical Therapy from Hunter College and a BA in Psychology and Biology from Fordham University. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, National Vulvodynia Association, and International Pelvic Pain Society. She is also an adjunct professor at Hunter College School of Physical Therapy, where she teaches third year Doctorate students about pelvic floor issues.
