I learned early on that life is full of surprises. Actually, it happened before I was born, resting in my mother's womb, wondering who that guy was next to me. As it turned out, it was my identical twin brother, who was born six minutes before me. (If you're wondering whether we look alike, see my author photos.)
I have always had a fascination with the Divine. I was an altar boy growing up Catholic, had stints in the Presbyterian and Baptist church, and decided to go to a Lutheran seminary. I co-authored five books as a pastor, then decided to leave the ministry to write. Since that time I have discovered a bigger God and a bigger world outside of one denomination or faith tradition, which has given me fodder for the current book I'm working on. As a fellow human being on my short journey here on earth, I look forward to future opportunities to discover the grace, excitement, and abundance of both the human and the Divine. It's one of the reasons I write.
I was named after the movie "Shane," the 1953 Western with Alan Ladd, and have enjoyed reading and watching good stories as long as I can remember. Some of my favorite childhood memories are going to the double features at the local cinema with family or friends. In 2014 I completed UCLA's Professional Program in Screenwriting, where I was a Nate Wilson Award nominee for best screenplay and student most likely to succeed in the screenwriting industry. I've written several full-length movies and continue to hone my craft. Writing, like life, is an ongoing business.
I enjoy writing a wide variety of materials, from books to humorous greeting cards to magazine articles to leadership materials to songs to business articles to technical writing in the IT world of cybersecurity. My goal is to write material that's relevant, easy to understand, timely, entertaining, and meaningful for the intended audience.
