A member of The Explorers Club, Delta Willis profiled Richard Leakey for her first book, The Hominid Gang, Behind the Scenes in the Search for Human Origins, and has written for Adventure Travel, Audubon, Connoisseur, Diversion, Outside, People, Natural History, and The New York Times. She served as Chief Contributor to the Fodor’s Travel Guides to Kenya & Tanzania, and Sr. Publicist for the National Audubon Society and Earthwatch.
Delta Willis began her career at New York’s J. Walter Thompson (JWT) then the world’s largest ad agency. As Director of Programs & Press for the Survival Anglia Ltd. unit of British television, she promoted wildlife filmmakers Alan & Joan Root, Des & Jen Bartlett, Iain Douglas- Hamilton’s research on elephants, and made the first of 33 journeys to Africa.
Delta is currently writing her memoirs "My Boat in the City" about her years based at New York's 79th St. Boat Basin. Subtitled "Wanderlust, Wildlife & My Womb with a View" the book includes travels in Africa and Italy during her Senior Gap Year.
