Hi, I'm Mike Ryan author of the Hurt Locker, Chariots of the Damned and the Devil's Playground which you may have heard of?

My latest book Raised to Kill - Gang Warfare in London is quite a departure from my normal books, but I just had to write it as nobody else was covering this much neglected topic. So why did I write it? Well I worked in gang intervention on and off for 8 years so I had a pretty good idea of what was going on at ground level. I also teach children with disabilities and special needs, so I felt by writing this book I could also help children and teachers in schools understand what gangs are all about. The book has been written in such a way that it can be used for lessons or school assemblies as a means of discussing the subject. I have also featured strategies for both schools and law enforcement that I believe will help them counteract the problem by means of positive passive methods.

Although the book is about gangs in London, the lessons still apply to other countries who are experiencing similar issues which is why I guess so readers from overseas are buying it. I do hope you enjoy reading the book as it is a valuable learning resource
