Simon Worrall was born in Wellington, England and spent his childhood in Eritrea, Paris and Singapore. He has written for publications all over the world, including The Smithsonian, The London Sunday Times, The Guardian, Paris Review, Conde Nast Traveler and The New Yorker. Since 1997, he has been a regular contributor to National Geographic Magazine, with assignments to London, Wales, Patagonia and China, and now curates a weekly column on the NG website called Biook Talk. His first book, The Poet and The Murderer, was published to critical acclaim in 2002 and became the subject of a BBC documentary, The Man Who Forged America. His passions include tennis, travel and reading. He has visited every continent except Antarctica; speaks five languages and currently divides his time between Herefordshire, England and the East End of Long Island. He is currently writing a sequel to The Very White Of Love.
