Philipp W. Rosemann

In 2023, Philipp Rosemann was appointed to the Cottrill-Rolfes Chair of Catholic Studies at the University of Kentucky, having previously taught at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, and the University of Dallas. In 2020, he was elected to the Royal Irish Academy. His intellectual interests are at the intersection of contemporary philosophy and the Christian intellectual tradition, especially in the Middle Ages. Thus, he has produced books such as a Lacanian study of Thomistic philosophy and a Foucault-inspired introduction to scholastic thought. His work on Peter Lombard, too, is widely cited and used. His newest book appeared with Eerdmans under the title, "Charred Root of Meaning: Continuity, Transgression, and the Other in Christian tradition." It emphasizes the role of disruption and difference in the constitution of the Christian tradition.

Rosemann also founded the book series "Dallas Medieval Texts and Translations," which he now co-edits with Kelly Gibson of the University of Dallas. For more information, go to: www.dallasmedievaltexts.org.
